A 22 year old Singaporean national named Malone Lam has pleaded guilty to leading a cybercrime syndicate that stole over $245 million in cryptocurrency. Operating from late 2023 through May 2025, Lam and his associates used social engineering and physical home invasions to access victim wallets. Lam coordinated the group under several aliases to target individuals and drain their digital assets.

The stolen funds supported an extreme lifestyle for the group members. Expenditures included private jets, luxury watches, security teams, and rental properties in cities like Miami and Los Angeles. Investigators noted that the group spent as much as $500,000 on nightclub services in a single night and purchased exotic cars worth millions.

Authorities arrested Lam at his Miami residence in September 2025 following a joint investigation by federal agencies. The case serves as a warning about the persistence of law enforcement in tracking down digital criminals who use advanced technology to commit fraud. A status hearing for the case is scheduled for December 8, 2026.
