Binance.US is making a major move to expand its platform. Chief Executive Officer Stephen Gregory announced that the exchange plans to apply for a Commodity Futures Trading Commission Designated Contract Market license next month. Speaking at the RareEvo conference, Gregory shared that the primary goal is bringing regulated prediction markets to American customers.

This licensing step sits at the center of a larger comeback strategy for Binance.US. The exchange is working hard to rebuild its operations after facing heavy regulatory hurdles and cutting back its product offerings over recent years. Along with prediction markets, the company plans to slash trading fees and introduce perpetual contracts to compete more effectively with rival United States platforms.

Prediction markets are currently seeing a massive surge in popularity as traders use event contracts to bet on politics, economic data, and other real world outcomes. Securing a Designated Contract Market status would allow Binance.US to legally offer these products under federal oversight. However, the formal application has not been submitted yet, and the regulatory review process will likely take several months with no guarantee of approval.
