MARA Holdings, the largest publicly traded Bitcoin miner, reported a net loss of over $611 million for the second quarter of 2026. Revenue fell 27 percent year over year to $174.9 million, according to a shareholder letter released on August 6. The company blamed the drop mostly on lower coin prices, which overshadowed gains in production and computing power.

Even though MARA mined 2,422 coins during the quarter, a 28 percent drop in the average market price reduced revenue by about $65.9 million. The firm also recorded an unrealized paper loss of $343 million on its digital holdings. MARA ended June with 35,577 coins worth roughly $2.1 billion, which is down nearly a third from a year earlier. Management noted plans to keep selling assets opportunistically to fund operations and capital projects.

On the operational side, the miner expanded its energized hashrate by 22 percent to 70.3 EH/s. The company is also shifting attention toward artificial intelligence and high performance computing infrastructure, securing rights to a powered land site in Texas and awaiting regulatory approval for the Long Ridge acquisition.

Traders should watch how the firm balances coin sales with its growing infrastructure spending. The ongoing treasury liquidations could create supply pressure on the market, making liquidity and energy costs key factors to monitor next quarter.
