Bitcoin Price Signals a Major Move Toward $72,000

Bitcoin is showing a clean setup on the charts that has traders paying close attention. On the 8 hour timeframe, the asset successfully climbed back above its 200 period exponential moving average on July 21. A bullish crossover is also developing as the 50 period moving average heads toward the 100 period line, a signal that previously kicked off a 5.6 percent rally earlier this month.

On chain data adds weight to the bullish case. The Momentum Whale Inflow Ratio has reached a low point for 2026, which indicates that large holders are currently holding back from dumping their coins on exchanges. At the same time, long term holders have increased their positions by nearly 47 percent over the last few days, suggesting that the most patient investors are accumulating at current levels.

Despite these positive signs, a significant obstacle remains at the $67,000 level. Data shows that roughly 394,000 coins were purchased near this price, meaning many holders may look to sell once they reach their breakeven point. This creates a wall of resistance that Bitcoin must clear to move higher.

For the bulls, the goal is to reclaim the $66,284 pivot point. If Bitcoin can sustain momentum above this mark, the path could open toward $68,647 and eventually the $72,000 range where sell side pressure appears thinner. Traders are also keeping an eye on the upcoming CLARITY Act vote in the Senate this August, which could serve as the catalyst needed to push the market through these technical barriers.
