LIVEA common crypto investment strategy called dollar cost averaging has produced mixed results over the last few years. Data tracking monthly hundred dollar investments since January 2022 shows that Bitcoin, XRP, Solana, and Tron outperformed Ethereum and Cardano for those who kept up the routine. While this approach helped cushion the impact of market dips, it did not guarantee a profit for every asset class.
Investors who consistently bought Tron saw the best performance, turning 5,600 dollars of total contributions into over 16,000 dollars. Bitcoin, XRP, and Solana also finished the period with solid gains of over 40 percent. In contrast, those buying Ethereum and Cardano ended with losses, showing that the strategy relies heavily on the long term recovery of the specific coin chosen.
Market volatility throughout 2024 played a major role in these outcomes. Many portfolios hit significant peaks during the crypto rally that followed the approval of spot ETFs and political changes in the United States. However, the subsequent market slide erased much of that paper wealth, leaving some investors in the red despite their steady accumulation strategy.
This trend highlights how regular buying works. For assets like Solana, buying through the lows meant accumulating many more tokens that eventually increased in value. For consistently rising assets like Tron, the strategy meant buying fewer tokens as prices climbed, which kept the total returns lower than a single early investment would have provided. Traders should watch how these assets handle current market shifts as the landscape changes.
