The White House has agreed to a key ethics package for the CLARITY Act, clearing the final major roadblock that froze the crypto bill for months. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the Senate is now at the one yard line. Following the announcement, Bitcoin climbed toward $67,000 while total crypto market value rebounded 2.8 percent to $2.32 trillion.

The CLARITY Act aims to give United States digital assets their first full federal rulebook. It splits regulatory duties by placing digital commodities like Bitcoin under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, while keeping token securities with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The sticking point was an ethics package designed to stop presidents, vice presidents, lawmakers, and senior officials from profiting from crypto while in office. After months of stalemate, the administration sent the new language to Senate Republicans, with the Department of Justice set to enforce the rules.

Traders are reacting positively because the deal removes the main objection from Democratic lawmakers, bringing the bill closer to the 60 votes needed in the Senate. Clear federal rules would end years of regulatory enforcement by lawsuit, lowering risk for institutional investors. Meanwhile, spot Bitcoin exchange traded funds recently pulled in $727 million across five days.

Some opposition remains, as lawmakers like Senator Elizabeth Warren argue the current draft weakens consumer protections. Majority Leader John Thune also faces a tight window to schedule a floor vote before the August recess starts.
