Warren Buffett might give his remaining Berkshire Hathaway shares, worth roughly $140 billion, to the newly created Trump Accounts. Eric Balchunas, a senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, shared the bold idea on Tuesday. Buffett plans to give away his entire stake by the end of 2034, and Balchunas believes youth investment funds are a natural fit for his legacy.

Trump Accounts started on July 4 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The program gives eligible children born between 2025 and 2028 a $1,000 Treasury deposit, while families can add up to $5,000 yearly. Billionaires Michael and Susan Dell already pledged $6.25 billion to help lower income children in the program. Proponents say stock gifts would skip capital gains tax and teach kids about investing.

Despite the big ideas, the move faces major roadblocks. Buffett already promised his shares to his family foundations, and current rules only allow cash deposits into specific index funds. Changing the law to accept direct stock gifts would require action from Congress. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has hinted that Bitcoin could eventually join the accounts, keeping crypto traders watching the program closely.

Traders and investors should keep an eye on how Buffett distributes his upcoming billions and whether lawmakers alter the rules for these accounts. If future legislation allows direct stock or digital asset gifts, the impact on traditional markets and crypto could be massive.
