The US crypto industry is proving its economic weight in 2026. A fresh report shows the sector directly supports 34,000 jobs and contributes $55 billion to the American economy. That worker headcount puts crypto ahead of familiar fields like coffee and tea manufacturing at 28,400 workers, and tobacco manufacturing at just 10,600 workers.

Compensation in the space remains high. The average crypto job pays $133,000 a year, which is more than double the national median of $64,000. It also beats traditional tech sectors at $104,000. Out of the $55 billion total economic contribution, roughly $31 billion goes straight toward worker income across the country.

The broader footprint reaches even further when counting indirect roles. Each direct crypto position supports six more jobs across the economy, bringing total supported employment to 232,000 positions. California, New York, and Texas lead the way by holding sixty percent of these roles, while heartland states support over 17,000 positions. Traders should watch how future policy shapes this expanding job market.
