The Ethereum Foundation has begun using AI agent networks to scan protocol repositories and development networks for potential vulnerabilities. Team member Nikos Baxevanis explained that these tools act as an initial layer of defense. They help filter through massive amounts of data to surface genuine security risks.

This initiative does not replace human auditors. Instead, the focus is on efficient triage. The team recognizes that AI often generates a high volume of noise, so human experts remain essential to decide which findings are significant and which can be ignored. By automating the scanning process, human researchers can focus their limited time on the most critical threats.

Using AI in devnets allows the security team to identify bugs and unexpected interactions before code reaches the mainnet. This approach helps shorten feedback loops during complex upgrades.
