A major cybersecurity incident at a Florida substance use disorder treatment center has potentially exposed the personal information of 145,714 patients. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported that Operation PAR suffered a breach where unauthorized actors gained access to internal network files.

The stolen files contain sensitive details including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver licenses, financial account records, and medical histories. The unauthorized access took place between June 6 and June 10, though the full scope was only recently confirmed after a lengthy internal review with outside security experts.

Operation PAR is currently sending notification letters to all affected individuals and providing free credit monitoring services through Epiq. While the company has not found any proof that the stolen information has been used for financial fraud yet, affected users should remain alert regarding their personal accounts.
