LIVEBitcoin is holding around $63,500 while a string of platform closures sparks hot debate across the market. Major names like BitMEX, AscendEX, BitMart, and Odos have announced plans to wind down operations, while Storj Labs recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Many traders see these failures as a classic sign that the market is cleaning house at the bottom of a cycle.
However, analyst Joao Wedson warned that the data does not support that narrative. Only nine trading platforms have shut down so far in 2026, which is actually the lowest annual total recorded in eight years. Unlike the 2022 FTX crash that dragged Bitcoin down to $16,000, today's closures have had almost no negative impact on the price.
Opinions remain split across the industry. Figures like Tom Lee believe weak business models failing is a bullish sign that makes room for healthier growth. At the same time, analysts like Doctor Profit and Ali Martinez view the $54,000 to $64,000 range as a strong accumulation zone, pointing to metrics that show sellers are getting exhausted.
