LIVEHyperliquid has faced selling pressure this week as two major investment funds, Multicoin Capital and Paradigm, unstaked a combined $291 million worth of HYPE tokens. The sudden influx of available tokens caused the price of HYPE to fall below $60. This amount represents roughly 85 percent of the platform's average daily trading volume, leading some traders to worry about a potential market flood.
Despite the price dip, Multicoin Capital maintains that they are not selling their position. Cofounder Tushar Jain clarified that the unstaking was purely for wallet rotation to ensure privacy for the institution. On chain analysis supports this claim, showing that the funds moved their assets into custody accounts rather than to public exchanges for sale. Some of these tokens were even transferred to Grayscale for their new exchange traded fund.
Market observers note that the core fundamentals of the Hyperliquid platform remain unchanged despite the recent market volatility. Trading activity and derivatives market share are still holding steady. However, the market remains cautious because the full impact of these unstaked tokens will become clearer once the mandatory seven day unstaking period ends later this month.
Investors are now watching the $60 level closely. If the token can reclaim this price, it may signal that the market has absorbed the news of the institutional moves. For now, traders should keep an eye on how these large funds manage their tokens as the current unstaking window closes.
