Samsung says iPhone owners are moving to its foldable phones at a faster rate than before. The switching rate to the new Galaxy Z Fold8 series reached 1.6 times that of previous models. Samsung reported that 30 percent of buyers in the United States for the Galaxy Z Flip8 came from competing brands, with most purchasing a foldable device for the first time.

Apple is now entering the same market with its newly announced iPhone Duo. The device starts at 1999 dollars for the base model and features a titanium body with a large inner display. Preorders begin soon, setting up a direct battle for users who prefer folding screens.

Market experts project that Samsung will hold the top spot in the foldable sector this year with a 32 percent share, while Apple is expected to capture 25 percent. Traders will be watching holiday sales figures closely to see if Apple can slow down Samsung momentum or if iPhone fans keep making the switch.
