LIVEA rewards subsidiary of Kansai Electric Power has launched a new feature allowing users to convert loyalty points into JPYC, a yen pegged stablecoin. The integration uses the Polygon network and HashPort Wallet to give everyday consumers a way to turn closed loop reward points into flexible digital money.
Previously, NORM Points users were limited to redeeming balances for standard gift cards and partner rewards. This new route lets users move their points into an on chain stablecoin environment without needing to buy crypto directly as a speculative investment.
JPYC operates under Japan's Payment Services Act, giving the project clear local regulatory backing. By using Polygon for fast transactions and low fees, the system avoids the high costs that usually frustrate casual users.
This setup highlights how stablecoins might find real everyday use through existing consumer habits rather than trading. Observers will watch to see how many users actually convert their points and whether other Japanese reward ecosystems follow this path.
