Michael Saylor took to social media this week to clarify his personal financial position. He stated clearly that he has never sold any of his personal Bitcoin holdings. This clarification arrived shortly after his company, MicroStrategy, disclosed the sale of 1,638 Bitcoin to help manage capital requirements.

Saylor explained that MicroStrategy functions as a public corporation, not as a personal savings account. While he advocates for long term holding, he noted that the company must occasionally adjust its treasury to handle corporate liabilities. Since 2020, MicroStrategy has maintained a policy of buying and selling Bitcoin to manage its balance sheet as needed.

The recent sale occurred at an average price of $63,957 per coin. The proceeds served two purposes. First, the firm boosted its cash reserves by $250 million. Second, it paid off $81 million of preferred shares that carried a high 12 percent annual dividend. Managing these rising dividend obligations is a key part of the company's financial strategy.

Investors are now watching the next round of filings to see if the company returns to net buying. The recent activity leaves MicroStrategy with 842,138 Bitcoin in its total treasury. Market participants remain focused on whether this pause in buying is temporary or if the firm will adjust its acquisition strategy moving forward.
