Microsoft Warns of Malware Attacks Using BNB Chain

Microsoft Threat Intelligence recently uncovered a dangerous attack campaign that relies on BNB Chain to function. These attacks use a method called ClickFix to trick users into downloading malicious software by presenting them with fake browser alerts. Once a user clicks these prompts, they accidentally run scripts that infect their computer.

The attackers are hiding their malicious instructions inside smart contracts hosted on the BNB Chain network. By using this decentralised infrastructure, the hackers make it harder for security tools to identify and block the source of the infection. This technique is known as EtherHiding, and it allows the malware to remain active across a wide cluster of compromised websites.

This discovery highlights how bad actors are finding creative ways to misuse blockchain technology for cybercrime. While the attack does not suggest a flaw in the BNB Chain protocol itself, it shows that malicious actors are actively using its permanent nature to hide their tracks. Users should remain cautious about unexpected popups on websites and avoid clicking on suspicious browser alerts.
