A major healthcare provider based in Pennsylvania is alerting over four million patients after a significant security breach. AdaptHealth reported that unauthorized parties gained access to its cloud systems earlier this summer, compromising the personal and medical data of 4,115,802 individuals. The incident was reportedly linked to the ShinyHunters hacking group.

Files stolen during the attack include names, contact details, demographic information, and health insurance records. While the company stated that Social Security numbers and bank details remain secure, the exposure of medical history remains a serious concern for those affected. AdaptHealth discovered the intrusion on June 15 after the initial attack occurred on June 5.

In response, the company is offering identity protection services and free credit monitoring to all impacted patients for at least one year. AdaptHealth claims they have no evidence of fraud or identity theft resulting from the breach so far. Authorities have been notified and an investigation is ongoing to address the security failures.
