Perplexity User Files Exposed Online After Search Leak

Major search engines including Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo quickly de indexed a massive privacy leak affecting Anthropic and its Claude service. However, those exact same search engines forgot to take down a similar, accidental data dump exposing files from customers of another major artificial intelligence provider, Perplexity.

Reporters recently accessed dozens of full Perplexity Computer files simply by querying standard URL structures on Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. The original problem stems from shareable links that do not clearly warn users that creating a link allows search engines to index the contents. Customers often share these links without realizing strangers can find personal details, credentials, and private documents through simple keyword searches.

This incident highlights ongoing privacy issues across the artificial intelligence sector, following similar public data leaks involving Anthropic and OpenAI over the past year. While the bugs are reported, users should remain cautious about what information they share through automated chat interfaces.
