LIVEDavid Schwartz, the chief technology officer emeritus at Ripple, shared a bold prediction during a recent audio discussion on social media. When asked if XRP could ever surpass Bitcoin in total market capitalization, he answered yes. He was quick to clarify that this scenario relies on XRP growing at a much faster rate than Bitcoin, rather than Bitcoin shrinking in value.
Schwartz pointed to the technical design of the XRP Ledger as a main driver for future growth. He noted that the network was built from the start to handle fast payments and scalability, offering features that go beyond the basic store of value model seen with Bitcoin. This utility could attract more users and capital over time.
Looking at current numbers, closing the gap remains a massive challenge. Bitcoin sits at a market valuation roughly eighteen times larger than XRP. Reaching parity would require XRP to jump significantly from its current price, assuming Bitcoin stays flat.
While the comments have excited many supporters, Schwartz did not present the event as an immediate certainty. Traders should watch how adoption of the XRP Ledger evolves alongside broader market trends in the months ahead.
