LIVEDavid Schwartz, the former chief architect at Ripple and a primary designer of the XRP Ledger, recently commented on the possibility of XRP surpassing Bitcoin. During a live session, Schwartz suggested that if the two assets ever flip in market value, it would likely come from an aggressive climb in the price of XRP rather than a sudden drop in the value of Bitcoin.
To reach this goal, XRP would need to overcome a significant market gap. XRP currently holds a market cap of about 87 billion dollars, which is roughly 5 percent of the size of Bitcoin. Achieving this flip would mathematically require an estimated 18 times increase in the price of XRP. While the comments generated significant excitement among supporters, experts note that such a move would require XRP to surpass several other major cryptocurrencies first.
In the short term, traders are focusing on immediate price levels. XRP is currently trading in a tight range between 1.37 and 1.40 dollars. Analysts are watching for a break above the 1.43 dollar resistance level, which could spark a move toward 1.50 dollars or higher. Conversely, a fall below 1.32 dollars could lead to further downward pressure toward the 1.20 dollar level.
Market participants are now waiting for upcoming news to provide more direction. Specifically, traders are watching the Senate for updates on the CLARITY Act and monitoring the Federal Reserve for interest rate decisions. Until capital begins rotating out of Bitcoin and into altcoins, many analysts expect the current consolidation to continue.
