Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev Hacked to Promote Fake Meme Coin

Hackers gained unauthorized access to the X account of Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev on July 23, 2026. The attackers used the compromised account to post about a new project called Vladhood, which uses the ticker symbol VLAD. The posts claimed the coin was the official mascot of a new blockchain network from Robinhood.

The posts included a link to a contract address to encourage followers to buy the token. Since Tenev has a following of nearly 800,000 people, the scam attempted to create immediate urgency and interest among traders. Robinhood has not officially announced any project under that name, and the entire scheme appears to be a typical rug pull attempt.

This incident highlights how even high profile accounts are targets for crypto scammers.
