Hackers briefly took over the verified X account of United States Senator Cynthia Lummis on Wednesday, using the platform to push a fake Solana meme coin called USA Token. The unauthorized posts appeared and vanished within five minutes, but they still managed to draw thousands of views before disappearing from the feed. The fraudulent message featured an American flag and a link to a token creation platform on Solana.

Senator Lummis is well known as one of the most vocal crypto advocates in Congress, championing the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act to shape clear rules for the industry. Because of her strong pro crypto stance, her account made an attractive target for bad actors looking to trap unsuspecting traders.
