Strategy has officially hit a pause on its Bitcoin accumulation. For the first time since the start of 2024, the firm went five weeks without adding to its holdings. Instead of buying more crypto, the company directed $25 million toward buying back 288,930 shares of its own STRC preferred stock.

The firm acquired these shares at an average price of $86.52. This is a significant discount from the stock's $100 stated value. By buying them back while the price is low, the company reduces its future dividend obligations and cleans up its capital structure. CEO Michael Saylor indicated that the firm will continue to be a disciplined buyer of these shares as long as they trade below the target price.

To support its financial obligations, Strategy also boosted its USD reserve to a record $3.75 billion. This move was funded by selling over 5 million shares of its common stock. This reserve acts as a safety net to ensure the company can pay dividends on its various securities regardless of short term market fluctuations in the price of Bitcoin.

Investors are now watching to see how long this hiatus from Bitcoin buying lasts. While the company holds over 840,000 BTC, this shift in strategy suggests that management is currently prioritizing the health of their financing instruments over rapid expansion of their crypto treasury.
