U.S. Bank just completed a live test of its own dollar backed stablecoin on a public blockchain network. The transaction successfully moved funds between North American and European corporate entities using the Stellar network, proving that traditional financial institutions can use public ledger technology for international payments.

This test proves the strength of the bank's Digital Asset Platform. The system supports minting, redemption, freezing, and clawback features while staying fully connected to standard risk and compliance systems. Gunjan Kedia, the chief executive officer at U.S. Bank, noted that the pilot accelerates global cash management and brings new technology straight into traditional banking.

Looking ahead, the bank plans to test more use cases for the stablecoin. These include liquidity management, collateral mobility, and cross border treasury operations. As the sixth largest bank in the United States with over 630 billion dollars in assets, this move shows traditional finance is getting serious about blockchain rails.
