LIVEEthereum launched its genesis block in July 2015, growing into the second largest blockchain with a market value exceeding $230 billion. With this massive growth, the eight original co founders have all profited significantly over the years. We took a closer look at what these key figures are working on today, as many have moved far away from the network they first built.
Vitalik Buterin remains the public face of Ethereum, staying deeply involved with both the network and the Ethereum Foundation. While he continues guiding the protocol, he frequently faces criticism from traders who feel the foundation does not do enough to support token prices. Other founders chose entirely different routes shortly after the launch.
Anthony Di Iorio tried to exit the industry entirely, citing safety concerns, though he later started a decentralized infrastructure firm called Andiami. Charles Hoskinson was pushed out of the project early on and went on to found Cardano, while Gavin Wood built Parity Technologies and launched Polkadot. Figures like Joseph Lubin stayed close to Ethereum by founding ConsenSys, the team behind MetaMask and Infura.
Other early creators like Jeffrey Wilcke, Mihai Alisie, and Amir Chetrit have mostly kept low profiles or moved on to unrelated ventures. While the world computer they started is still thriving today, most of the original creators have shifted their focus to new projects and different challenges.
