LIVEBitcoin climbed back above $65,000 this week, reaching its highest level since late July and showing an unusual strength against bad news. The leading cryptocurrency gained about two percent over twenty four hours to trade near $65,212. This price jump happened despite a major hardware wallet security breach, another delay for the CLARITY Act, and months of sideways price action that usually triggers heavy selling. Instead, the market absorbed these shocks, resulting in $191.6 million in liquidations across more than 80,000 traders.
Analysts note that Bitcoin's sensitivity to negative headlines has dropped close to historical lows. While holders are still selling at a loss, the intensity is far lower than the capitulation events seen earlier in the year. Data shows weekly net realized losses sit around $368 million, which is much smaller than the billions recorded in February and June. Even a security scare involving Coldcard wallets failed to cause panic selling, as most affected users simply moved their coins to safe addresses instead of sending them to exchanges.
At the same time, strong buying pressure is soaking up the available supply. US spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in about $754.7 million during the week, marking the strongest inflow period since April. Meanwhile, wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 bitcoins accumulated more than 20,000 coins worth over $1.2 billion. Smaller retail holders are leaving the market out of frustration, while larger entities take the other side of the trade.
Derivatives traders remain cautious, with implied volatility dropping to low levels and CME futures showing leveraged funds holding heavy short positions. This setup means the market is not overly excited yet, but it also creates room for a sharp squeeze if prices keep climbing. Traders should watch spot ETF inflows and whale wallet balances closely to see if this momentum can push Bitcoin toward the $70,000 mark.
