Breez Drops Glow App to Spend Stablecoins from Bitcoin Balances

Crypto development team Breez has teamed up with Bitcoin Spark to launch Glow, a progressive web app designed to make spending Bitcoin much easier. The app lets users send stablecoins using their existing Bitcoin balance while handling all the complicated asset exchanges in the background. Glow is available now on both Apple and Android app stores.

One of the biggest changes in Glow is the absence of traditional seed phrases. Instead, the app uses modern passkey standards to secure user accounts. Despite ditching the seed phrase backup, Glow still offers full self custody and cryptographic control over funds. The app also supports native Lightning payments and lets users set up email style addresses to make sending money simple.

Users can protect themselves against market volatility by swapping their Bitcoin holdings for a native stablecoin called USDB. This stablecoin is fully backed and issued by a regulated entity. The app also features built in onramps through Cash App and MoonPay so users can buy crypto quickly.

Traders and developers should watch to see how well these new payment rails catch on with everyday users. Since the underlying software development kit is open source, other developers can now build similar payment experiences into their own applications.
