A coordinated effort by sixteen security researchers has exposed nearly 5,000 software issues across 390 Bitcoin projects. By combining human expertise with AI tools over a 30 hour period, the team identified 85 critical flaws and 635 high severity bugs. This initiative highlights the importance of proactive security in the open source code that powers the Bitcoin network.

Each researcher guided their own AI systems with unique prompts to catch vulnerabilities that traditional automated scans often miss. The largest share of issues appeared in crypto libraries and software development kits. Out of all the projects reviewed, only one successfully passed the security check without any reported problems.

The team is now working to notify project maintainers, many of whom have already confirmed the issues. This campaign comes at a time when Bitcoin security is under the microscope following recent incidents involving wallet seed vulnerabilities. As developers move to patch these weaknesses, the overall health of the ecosystem should see significant improvements.
